PGP Health Company
PGP Health is a company based in Melbourne, Australia, which focuses on developing medical compression products using high textile fabrics. After many years of research and development, and testing out over 80 different fabrics, PGP Health is proud to present our first novel product, the Vest Compression (VC)1.
VC1 resembles a vest-like structure and is a medical compression product to reduce back pains and various gastrointestinal issues. This compression garment is designed to A) improve gastrointestinal tract function and B) provide support to the posture through a series of panels carefully added to specific parts of the body on the extremities to assist with the underlying physiology. This is a patented product under international protection laws and includes the panels and their positioning.
Our product is not a shaper but a new and novel design. Its function differs as it intends to reverse the changes that occur over long periods of time in a natural way, by lifting and suppressing the large and small intestine in a gradual way.
We are based locally and our manufacturing is conducted through local service providers. In doing so, we hope to support our community by creating and increasing manufacturing jobs.
Why do we need the vest?
Obesity is prevalent in more than 60% of the population and reaching pandemic proportions across the world. Generally, an obese individual exhibits a pear-shaped type of waistline as depicted in the figure above.
Lifestyle factors including smoking, stress, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diets, and lack of physical activities are some of the main drivers which contribute largely towards obesity.
Unfortunately, a direct correlation between obesity and risk of diabetes (type 2), cardiovascular medical conditions, hypertension, cancer (GI tract, breast, colon), stroke, and autoimmune diseases have been demonstrated. In general, the larger the waistline the higher the risks of these and other associated diseases.
